Person Centred Counselling

Person Centred Therapy focuses on the client’s experience of themselves and their world. It seeks to enable clients to find their own solutions to their problems through greater acceptance and understanding of themselves. The therapist enables this by providing an environment that is genuinely empathic, warm, accepting and authentic. The client chooses the direction and focus that therapy has and therapist will actively listen to come to a deep understanding of the client's unique and personal experiences. They will ask questions to clarify the client’s thoughts and feelings and aim provide an environment that feels safe, safe and honest.

Many people like this form of therapy as it allows them to speak freely about a range of issues and allows for the focus of therapy to evolve in a flexible and fluid way. Some people will prefer to work in a structured way and may benefit from other forms of therapy such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
